Once upon a time there was a little studio in Sonoma...

Back in 2009, my sister Anne gave me a book that turned out to be the "official" beginning of my journey into art making. The book, aptly named, "Living into Art, Journeys Through Collage" is about a group of talented collage artists who come together weekly in a little red barn called The Sonoma Collage Studio. The two queens at the helm, Barbara Jacobson and Audrey Von Hawley hold court, supporting and nurturing others in the process of discovery, inspiration and love. The art of expression itself as having value. Process over product. It was there that I first really showed my work to others. Not easy at first but slowly over time I began to feel like I was safe, that I had a place in that creative process.

Along the way, I have met many cool women in that collective, many of whom have inspired me over the years. Some I now call friends even. Wow! One of those friends inspired this current form of art making that you see here on Having Duende. Thank you Barbara Crow!
